DESCRIPTION

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Merseyrail HR Department as a HR Advisor.
This role is integral to work as part of a proactive HR Business Partnering team providing proactive HR generalist advice and guidance. This role will provide first line support to our people managers and will report directly to the HR Business Partner.

The ideal candidate will require: -

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a HR Advisor within a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, adapt and operate at all levels when working under pressure.
  • Organised and self-motivated with the ability to build and maintain solid relationships with customers and unions, having the confidence to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
  • Strong system and MS Office skills.

The successful candidate must be degree educated/CIPD (or working towards) and must have experience in an operational HR role in which you have operated at a level where you have dealt with management teams.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

  • Degree educated or experience in an operational HR role in which you have operated at a level where you have dealt with management teams.
  • Proven experience of advising managers on the full range of HR issues including recruitment and selection; employee relations, performance management and staff development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability and confidence in building excellent working relations with colleagues and internal customers alike. Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating credibility and tact
  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated with high level organisational capability.
  • Commercial and business acumen in applying policy and procedure that achieves the right outcome.
Responsibilities

Lead, support and advise on all Employee Relations related cases and absence meetings at all levels ensuring all cases are managed fairly and consistently and resolutions are sought.

The HR Advisor will be responsible for liaising with the people managers and arranging meetings for example:-

  • Investigations
  • Disciplinary hearings (including dismissal)
  • Grievance
  • Flexible working
  • Managing Attendance
  • Performance Management
