QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Level 3 CIPD or equivalent
  • Experience of working as a HR Adviser
  • Knowledge of the full range of HR practices within an organisation
  • Understanding of key employment legislation and its impact on HR practice
  • Ability to deal with sensitive matters tactfully and discreetly, providing fair and manageable solutions
  • Experience of dealing with important and confidential matters and documents
  • Ability to manage and prioritise a complex workload to ensure strict deadlines are met
  • Competent in the use of standard office software
  • Ability to research and compile internal and external information for management reports and project work

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

The HR Adviser together with all members of the HR team has access to personal records, files and confidential information. The HR team
are expected to maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times and must never disclose, outside the team, without authority, information
gained in the course of their duties.

Responsibilities

ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE

Our HR & Development team is made up a number of teams that work together to support Weightmans’ people issues and processes, including: business support; employee relations; learning & development; payroll & benefits; and recruitment.
With guidance from the HR Services Manager and Head of HR, to provide an accurate and efficient HR advisory service to a diverse range of partners, team leaders and employees, handling a range of operational HR issues, ensuring best practice and legal requirements are met.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide advice and support on all aspects of areas, at all levels, relating to employee relations such as:

  • Disciplinary
  • Investigations
  • Grievance
  • Performance Management
  • Absence Management
  • Bullying and harassment
  • Contractual advice
  • Dismissal and termination
  • Responding to ACAS enquiries
  • Induction
  • Manage probationary periods, dealing with any issues that may arise and providing advice and support with probationary reviews
  • Keep up to date with developments in HR practice and employment law
  • Deal with smaller scale redundancy consultation and end to end redundancy process
  • Process changes to individual staff records efficiently and within agreed timescales, liaising with team managers, HR Coordinators, and Payroll as appropriate
  • Promote well-being and ensure staff are sign-posted to the support and benefits available
  • Monitoring HR mi and feedback to identify risks and issues and provide the necessary support
  • Provide advice and guidance to employees ensuring best practice
  • Maintain current and accurate information within the HR System
  • Undertake HR related project work on an ad hoc basis as required
  • Assist with production of Management Information as required on ad hoc basis
  • Contribute to the development of policy and procedure
  • Assist with yearly pay review and graduate recruitment processes
  • Provide support to other members of the HR team
  • Manage contractual changes, ensuring the necessary paperwork is completed, records are update and the HR Services Manager is informed for payroll purposes.
  • Manage ad-hoc processes as may be allocated, such as diversity monitoring, work experience placements etc.
