Basic Purpose

  • Supports human resources department by screening and interviewing applicants, preparing payroll, orienting new employees, administering employee benefit programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads recruiting activities in all stages of the hiring process, including posting job openings, reviewing and screening applications, conducting interviews, and on boarding new employees. Oversees background checks and drug screens while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and statutory and local employment laws.
  • Manages employee relations by addressing employee conflicts and completing investigations as required. Works with management to administer employee discipline or corrective action when needed. Assesses employee engagement and retention, and actively work to identify, analyse, and improve any problematic areas.
  • Design and implement training and development programs in coordination with section managers for employees.
  • Ensure that existing Human Resources Policies, Procedures and Handbook are updated in line with statutory requirements, good practice and the agreed review timetable and that new policies or procedures are introduced as necessary.
  • Administers loans by advising employees of eligibility, providing application information, helping with form completion, verifying submission, notifying employees of approvals.
  • Monitors unemployment claims by reviewing claims, substantiating documentation, requesting legal counsel review.
  • Maintains human resources records by recording new hires, transfers, terminations, changes in job classifications, training logs, salary increases, tracking vacation, sick and personal time.
  • Documents human resources actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
  • Liase with external parties, like manpower agencies, HMO providers, government agencies and other interested parties.
  • Ensure that all personnel under his/her leadership/responsibility are provided appropriate direction, leadership, guidance, support, and training to enable the advancement of their knowledge and experience in the operations of the overall plant energy and related mechanical system environment.
  • Assumes responsibility for the performance of employees in the area of responsibility by spot checking work in the area, evaluating the quality of the work performed, and coordinating with the Section Manager and HR Manager to develop management tools to evaluate personnel and trade related performance.
  • Enforces Company rule and policies regarding employee conduct by advising all assigned employees about the Company’s rules and policies on employee conduct, issuing verbal warnings and written reprimands for violations, and recommending progressive disciplinary action to the Section Manager and HR Manager as necessary.
  • Facilitates a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

Quality/ Food Safety/ Safety / Environmental / Business/ Risk Management

  • Ensure adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all human resourced activities may pass internal, independent and governmental audits.
  • Supports company compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements the Department of Labor and Employment, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), maintains minimal company exposure to lawsuits.
  • Protects the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations. Minimizes risk.
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.

People Management

  • Responsible on boarding new/transferred employees as well as workforce engagement, recognition, development and coaching, developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by ensuring proper use of all equipment and resources and enforcing safety practices, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedure.
  • Supports the organization’s talent development and engagement within the organization.

  • Partners with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and laws.
  • Updates job knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations.
  • Keep informed of current developments in the field of recruitment, hiring and employee motivation; new laws and regulations on labor, wages and rates.
  • Support Client/Plant customer relationship by meeting business objectives and by understanding how operational performance impacts internal/external customers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education

College Graduate preferably with a Degree in Bachelor of Science/ Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Management

Bachelor of Science/ Bachelor of Arts in Management with a concentration in HR Bachelor of Science in Psychology

  • Experience

Proven working experience as HR Administrator, HR Administrative Assistant or relevant role
