Description Job Summary The Human Resource Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s human resource department. The primary task of the HR Assistant will be recruiting. Duties/Responsibilities: Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Assist in preparation for offsite staffing events. Collaborate with supervisors to improve recruiting/candidate selection process. Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation, including electronic documentation. Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records. Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately. Provides clerical support to the HR department. Conducts or assists with new hire orientation. Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations. Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications. Interacts with employees daily, assists with HR related questions, and aids with access to benefits and HRIS system. Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees related to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management. Conducts new hire orientation and employee recognition programs. Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent people skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. Education and Experience: Associate’s degree in related field required. Three years of office experience preferred, with at least one year in human resources highly preferred.
