ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in HR administration, recruitment, or office support role.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and safer recruitment practices (training provided if needed).
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with HR systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.

DESIRABLE SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • CIPD Level 3 (or working towards qualification).
  • Experience in childcare, social care, or regulated care sectors.
  • Understanding of Ofsted inspections and compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting contractor or facilities management.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

As HR Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting recruitment, compliance, and HR administration while also assisting with day-to-day operations. You’ll be part of a collaborative team, ensuring we attract, support, and retain the very best staff for our homes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the end-to-end recruitment process, including advertising roles, scheduling interviews, and preparing offer documentation.
  • Support safer recruitment checks (DBS, references, right-to-work, safeguarding declarations).
  • Maintain GDPR-compliant employee records and HR systems.
  • Help prepare contracts, induction packs, policies, and staff handbooks.
  • Monitor staff probation reviews, appraisals, and mandatory training schedules.
  • Provide HR and administrative support during inspections, audits, or Ofsted visits.
  • Assist with contractor management — booking site visits, chasing quotes, and ensuring compliance documents are up to date.
  • Contribute to reports, policies, and internal communications.

This role is subject to:

  • An Enhanced DBS check (paid for by the employer).
  • Comprehensive pre-employment checks, including references and right-to-work verification.
  • Ongoing safeguarding and child protection training to ensure staff remain up to date with legislation, policy, and best practice
