Description

Overview: The Benefits Specialist assists with the day-to-day administration of all benefit plans. Acts as a resource to Carle and Health Alliance employees with benefit-related questions and serving as an expert on all employee benefits. Responsible for responding to requests from both internal and external customers in a timely manner, interpreting and communicating benefit policies and procedures. Provides recommendations on changes to programs and processes to improve competitiveness and efficiency. Responsibilities: Answers and responds to all incoming calls, voicemails, and email communications. Qualifies, assesses, and responds to all incoming benefits cases in a timely manner. Assists all walk in and requested in person appointments on site at the Human Resources office. Serves as direct point of escalation for the HR Help Desk. Acts as a resource to the human resource staff on the technical aspects of the various benefit plans. Advises employees on benefits eligibility, plan provisions and options. Provides direction on benefits policies and procedures to management, employees and external entities as required. Administers the benefit programs in a positive and customer-focused manner ensuring timely responses and thorough content of information. Administers the enrollment process for all benefits plans including health, dental, vision, life, flex spending, and retirement plans. Prepares and reconciles premium billing to various benefit vendors. Processes and maintains all benefit programs directly impacting customers. Processes and maintains back-end reports that support front line benefit programs including payroll and vendor reports. Assist with the annual open enrollment process including answering phones, resolving cases, incoming emails, and manual change forms. Conducts new employee benefit orientation for all employees, including Physicians and APPs both in person and virtually. Conducts on site benefits support session and meetings upon request and during open enrollment.
