The Role We’re looking for an experienced and people-focused HR Business Partner to join our high-performing HR team in a 12-month contract position. Reporting to the HR Director, this role can be based in either our Mt Wellington (Auckland) or Toongabbie (Sydney) office and will support a range of business functions across Australia and New Zealand. As a trusted advisor, you will partner closely with leaders and collaborators to provide strategic HR mentorship and lead initiatives that improve employee engagement, capability, and performance. About You You bring a positive, proactive approach, strong problem-solving skills, and a genuine passion for working with people. This role reports offshore, so you’ll be confident operating both independently and as part of a collaborative ANZ HR team. A solid HR background is essential, along with at least 5 years’ experience applying New Zealand employment law. You are highly organised with strong skills in managing workflows, and you excel at influencing, negotiating, and building effective cross-functional relationships through an inclusive and collaborative approach. Experience within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry would be advantageous, though not essential. This is a 12 month fixed term role with flexiblity to be based in either Auckland or Sydney. Responsibilities : Partner with the business to support and drive a positive employee experience and organisational culture Act as a mentor to provide advice and counsel to managers and leaders throughout the business Work strategically with senior and line management in aligning people practices with overall business objectives Launch and lead HR projects as needed to support the HR function and business Provide an effective employee relations service on matters related to disciplinary and grievance, ensuring equitable treatment of employees Assist the HR Business Partnering team and the broader HR team as needed, particularly with issues involving NZ employment knowledge Lead Enterprise Agreement re-negotiations. Key requirements: Tertiary credential in HR or a related field Proven experience working as a strategic HR advisor or in a similar HR generalist role A minimum of five years’ experience working with New Zealand employment law Solid understanding of employee relations, performance management, and HR practices Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with regional and offshore teams Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and negotiation skills Proven ability to build strong cross-functional relationships Strong organisational and process management capabilities Experience working in a multinational or matrix environment Experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry (advantageous but not essential). #li-baxgen #LI-JB1 #ind-aus Equal Employment Opportunity Baxter is an equal opportunity employer.
