Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION
This role is a consultative, coaching, leadership position, providing guidance, direction and solutions, to the area locations. The Business Partners support the management team in each area with best practices in Human Resources and Labour Relations practices. This position has a strong focus on compliance and standardization within the regional area but also allows our Business Partners to practice innovation and adaptability.
This position offers a hybrid work arrangement. In-office duties will predominantly center around visits to district offices and meetings at our Head Office located in Markham, Ontario.
Responsibilities:
- Effectively collaborate with business and Union partners to complete cross-functional tasks including grievance response and resolution.
- Resolve people matters that arise, including MOL inquiries/disputes.
- Take the lead on employee incident reviews and investigations with Branch Supervisors/Managers.
- Ensure processes are followed consistently and due diligence has been done.
- Provide sound advice on workplace policies & procedures and share knowledge appropriately on applicable legislation including but not limited to the ESA, LRA, OHSA, Ontario Human Rights Code and AODA.
- Provide interpretation and administration of the collective agreements for union locations where applicable.
- Act as back up lead for Joint Labor Management (JLM) meetings with the goal of building even stronger working relationships with our Union partners where applicable.
- Working closely with the H&S Partner, be an advocate for employee health and wellness and ensure we meet our obligations within the OHSA and other legislation to provide a safe workplace for all
- Build and utilize working relationship with internal business partners across the organization and external contacts.
- Evaluate needs and gaps in HR approaches and services for the business units and develop a plan to address requirements.
- Provide related administrative services in support of these services.
- Maintain/enhance awareness of HR best practices and emerging issues both internally and externally to ensure our practices are relevant, market-competitive and supportive of the ParaMed Employment Brand.
- Other duties as required.
Skills and Requirements:
- University Degree or completion of a College Diploma Program in Human Resources. CHRP/CHRL designation an asset.
- 5+ years of relevant HR/LR work experience within a Human Resources department with at least 3 years as an HR/LR generalist.
- Experience in unionized environment.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Working knowledge of human resources policy and practice and of relevant HR and employment-related legislation in applicable jurisdictions, including laws pertaining to Employment Standards and Human Rights.
- Thrive in fast-paced environment and driven to deliver results.
- High energy, strong work ethic, resiliency, versatility and flexibility.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of an organization.
- Enjoys a challenge and committed to building a high-performance organization.
- Excellent organizational, project management and execution skills to ensure successful delivery/implementation of HR projects, policies and processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HRIS.
