Hutchison Port Holdings brings 40 years of experience in the ports industry. Hutchison Ports Australia is seeking a hands-on HR Business Partner to support our Brisbane Container Terminal. This role is embedded within the terminal leadership team and plays a key role in supporting operational performance through strong people leadership, industrial relations expertise and practical HR support. Working closely with leaders across operations, maintenance and safety, the HR Business Partner will provide pragmatic advice across the full employee lifecycle while supporting a stable and productive industrial environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior HR Advisor or emerging HR Business Partner who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment. What You’ll Be Doing Business Partnering & Operational Support Partner with leaders to provide practical HR, ER and IR advice that supports operational performance. Coach managers on people leadership, employee relations and performance management. Support organisational initiatives including workforce planning, leadership capability and change management. Employee & Industrial Relations Provide hands-on support across performance management, misconduct, grievances and disciplinary matters. Interpret and apply Enterprise Agreement provisions and company policies. Support union engagement and consultation processes. Assist with workplace investigations and preparation of documentation for industrial matters including Fair Work Commission proceedings. Workforce & Leadership Capability Coach and support frontline leaders to strengthen people leadership capability. Assist with succession planning and workforce capability initiatives. Support leadership development programs in partnership with Learning & Development. Talent & Employee Lifecycle Partner with leaders on recruitment and onboarding activities. Support probation management and employee engagement initiatives. Assist with workers compensation and return-to-work processes. Compliance & Reporting Ensure HR practices comply with employment legislation, enterprise agreements and company policies. Maintain accurate HR documentation and reporting. Use HR data and insights to identify trends and support continuous improvement initiatives. These responsibilities reflect the role’s focus on practical people solutions, workforce stability and industrial risk management within a unionised operational environment. About You You are a pragmatic HR professional who enjoys working closely with operational leaders and solving real business problems. You are confident managing employee relations matters and comfortable operating in a structured industrial environment. We’re looking for someone who has: 4-6 years’ experience in HR, Employee Relations or HR Business Partner roles Strong understanding of Australian employment legislation Experience interpreting Enterprise Agreements Demonstrated capability managing ER matters such as performance, conduct and grievances Strong stakeholder engagement and coaching skills Excellent written and verbal communication Desirable Experience in logistics, transport, manufacturing, ports or heavy industry Exposure to enterprise bargaining or union environments Tertiary qualification in HR, Industrial Relations or Business Why Join Hutchison Ports?
