THE OPPORTUNITY
We’re seeking a dynamic HR Business Partner to join one of Canada’s top HR teams in Retail, as per the 2025 Canadian HR Awards!
At MEC, our HR team is known as the People Team. The HR Business Partner (People Business Manager) plays a key role within this team, reporting to the Senior People Business Manager – Retail. This role provides both strategic and hands-on HR support to all western retail store locations in BC and AB, including our distribution center. The PBM helps drive MEC’s vision of having the most knowledgeable and engaged staff, and a culture that positions MEC as a destination employer. This role is deeply aligned with our values and purpose, and is instrumental in supporting our teams through leadership, coaching, and HR services that enable performance and growth.

Location & Travel Requirements: The People Business Manager role is based in Vancouver and supports the Western region (BC and Alberta) - The expectation is to spend time in each of the following store locations: Vancouver, North Vancouver, Victoria, Langley, Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton, Edmonton South, along with the Western Distribution Centre based in Surrey, BC. Please note that assigned store locations and regional coverage may be adjusted at the discretion of the business to meet operational needs.
