JOB SUMMARY

DBT is creating an in-house HR Casework Service. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new and evolving team. We are seeking motivated and ambitious HR experts to join us in providing a first-class HR Casework Service to DBT managers and employees.
The successful applicants will work within the HR Casework and Advisory Service which provides advice to managers and employees on a range of HR Policies, supports on complex people issues and ensures access to the right services at the right time.
There are five roles available:
Four HR Casework Consultants- Providing advice to managers on complex HR casework and delivering initiatives and projects to improve line manager capability and service delivery.
One Workplace Adjustments Consultant- A role that sits within the HR Casework Service, working closely with managers, employees, our occupational health service and disability network to ensure that colleagues receive expert advice and support relating to workplace adjustments
Candidates will be asked to state a preferred role, though this will not be a guarantee of the role offered.

JOB DESCRIPTION

These roles will be fast-paced and allow the successful candidates to develop an in-depth knowledge of HR policies, build strong relationships with a breadth of internal and external stakeholders as well as offer a broad insight into how HR operates in Government.

HR CASEWORK CONSULTANT. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advise on complex HR cases in a timely manner, ensuring appropriate conclusions are met, whilst adhering to employment law, departmental policies and operational needs.
  • Where cases escalate, lead on engagement and coordination of advice to senior stakeholders within HR and across DBT where required.
  • Coordinate Employment Tribunals with internal parties and the Government Legal Department.
  • Build capability and confidence of Line Managers through coaching on individual cases and delivery of policy workshops.
  • Deliver continuous improvements through the managing of specific projects within pre-determined budgets and frameworks to provide a comprehensive and quality service.
  • There may be line management responsibilities for these posts.

WORKPLACE ADJUSTMENTS CONSULTANT. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide advice to managers and employees on workplace adjustments that will help to remove barriers in the workplace, whilst adhering to employment law, departmental policies and operational needs.
  • Procure items that are recommended by occupational health on behalf of employees.
  • Support the management of the occupational health contract, ensuring DBT colleagues get the best value for money from the service.
  • Support the management of the workplace adjustment budget and process associated invoices.
  • Work closely with the Disability Network and occupational health to drive improvements in the provision of support for colleagues with a disability or health condition.
  • Work in partnership with colleagues on the wider HR Casework and Advisory Service on joint goals and initiatives, providing cover and support where required.
