SUMMARY

This position provides a broad scope of services by efficiently and accurately answering HR questions to internal and external parties, processing a high volume of transactions, and resolving concerns or questions, which include but are not limited to our corporate records system, I-9, benefits and enrollment, unemployment claims, and payroll concerns.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for HR-related phone calls from our associates and external applicants. Provide timely and consistent customer service and guidance, which includes researching and resolving issues around the applicant tracking system, I-9 completion, auditing, leave of absence and benefit eligibility issues, and other general HR questions.
  • Performs administrative tasks, such as responding to the several shared email boxes, supporting the Associate Assistance Foundation, and other general HR work.
  • Maintains all employee records, including responding to employee requests, scanning, uploading, and auditing documents. Works with records vendor for off-site storage needs.
  • Resolve sensitive, confidential, and urgent issues within the confines of the law and the established policies and procedures of PetSmart. Processes a high volume of calls and emailsSupport additional HR projects and initiatives as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience preferred. Prior experience in HR or a related field is strongly preferred.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to articulate information clearly and professionally.
  • Demonstrated patience and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential inquiries.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to multitask across multiple systems to retrieve information and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as percentages and perform analysis related to payroll and benefits contributions.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and independent judgment in resolving HR-related issues and interpreting plan details.Dealing with fast-paced, sensitive, confidential, and urgent issues.
