QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 2 year’s experience in the Human Resources
  • Experience working in charity/non-profit sector considered an asset
  • Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in Human Resources or a related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office and expertise with advanced functions in Word and Excel

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Effectively and respectfully works with others who have diverse traditions, beliefs, interpersonal styles, attitudes, and behaviors
  • Ability to work flexible hours, if required
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written
Responsibilities
  • Be a leader and ambassador of Terra Centre for Teen Parents by practicing in a manner that is consistent with Terra’s mission, vision, values, policies, strategic goals, and practice model
  • Participate in annual performance review process
  • Provide recruitment support to hiring managers
  • Coordinate and provide initial orientation and onboarding with new staff
  • Provide employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions and wages
  • Coordinate the offboarding process when employees go on leave or exit the agency
  • Manage digital employee files
  • Track employee training and certificates, making sure mandatory training has been taken as per policy and/or accreditation timelines
  • Collaborate with Managers to assist in the identification of employee development/training needs and related resources
  • Provide email, phone call, or drop in guidance, support, and resources to staff team (as needed)
  • Keep current with existing and proposed laws and regulations affecting HR practices, including Employment Standards, AB Human Rights, Occupational Health and Safety, etc.
  • Oversee HR administrative functions at key location(s) and ensure there is coordination and consistency across HR administrative functions in the agency
  • Contribute to ensuring that the agency is up to date with policies, and that they are practiced consistently across the agency
  • Acting member of the Work Site Health & Safety Committee
  • Ensure any legal documentation (ex. Critical Incident Reports and Occupational Health and Safety documentation) is processed properly and promptly according to policy
  • Contribute to the development of a healthy and safe environment which promotes Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Interact with families in a respectful and non-judgmental manner
  • Complete annual performance review reflecting on previous year’s activities and setting goals for upcoming year
  • Adhere to agency established timelines and processes, submission of timesheets, expense reports, mileage, data entry etc.
