The candidate must reside in San Antonio or within 25 miles the direct surrounding area. PRIMARY FUNCTION/RESPONSIBILTY The Human Resources Support Specialist will provide support with the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department primarily including the facilitation of recruitment, talent acquisition, new employee onboarding and processing internal employee changes.  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Oversees the background check and compliance process for all employees for annual and renewal background checks.  * Conducts or acquires background checks, employee eligibility verifications and reference checks. * Purchases essential supplies within department and organization’s business cards and names tags. * Assist with printing and mailing employee/intern badges when requested. * Oversees and processes all HR transactions. * Oversees organization’s monthly employee recognition program (Kudos Awards). * Oversees and processes volunteer requests provided by Advancement Department. * Performs administrative tasks such as ordering flowers, change of address/direct deposit, etc. * Ensures proper updates are made to company sites for employees to access the most up-to-date HR Documents, such as All Staff SharePoint * Assists in proper tracking of internal processes such as Active placements or IT collaboration  * Oversees HR Mail and distributes/processes accordingly * Responsible for maintaining current/relevant documentation in all SJRC properties such as labor posters, mandated documents, EAP or Lighthouse posters, etc. * Oversees HR Forms, provides support to HR staff in handling edits, publishing to staff,    * Provides support in filing documents electronically or paper * Ensures proper filing of Employee Documents and organizational history * Responsible for digitizing any remaining paper documents to comply with retention policies  * Assists with benefit audits to ensure consistency across all platforms * Generates reports for organizational audits within/outside the Human Resources department * Coordinates with HR Generalist on FMLA/leave requests  * Oversees HR correspondence e-mailbox and main line phone calls.  * Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. * Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc. * Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Required: * Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required. * At least one year of human resource management experience preferred. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  * Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. * Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. * Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. * Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. * Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. * Advanced-levels skill with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) or related software. * Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems. Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: * Valid Texas Driver’s License, good driving record, ability to provide own transportation and proof of current automobile insurance. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS * Body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend, reach, and walk (roll) in order to operate equipment. * Moderate to heavy lifting up to 25 pounds. * Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. * Must have the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. * Must have the ability to give and receive verbal and written instructions (with or without hearing aids). * Must have fine vision, sustained vision, and peripheral vision (with or without glasses). * Environment requires dexterity to remain calm and adapt to fast paced and emotional environments consisting of children with moderate to severe emotional and psychological needs. * Minimum of 40 hours per week but may necessitate additional time in order to complete assigned work, which would include evenings and weekends. * Home-like settings with varying moderate to high degrees of background noise.  * Light and ventilation are found in a typical home setting. * Campuses are smoke-free, except on permitted campuses in designated areas. * Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.  * Possible injury when lifting or moving if employee fails to use proper body mechanics, or if proper techniques are not used.
