The HR Generalist at 10 Federal plays a pivotal role in managing the core people operations of the company. This role supports the business across a broad range of HR functions including recruiting, employee relations, compliance, performance support, and administrative operations. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a lean, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Partner with department heads to understand staffing needs and coordinate timely recruitment efforts.
- Manage the full recruitment process including sourcing, screening, scheduling interviews, coordinating feedback, and delivering offers.
- Maintain job postings across internal and external platforms; ensure timely communication with candidates.
- Track staffing levels and hiring timelines to help ensure operational continuity.
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Facilitate new hire onboarding, including employment paperwork, policy acknowledgment, orientation, and systems access.
- Coordinate terminations, including final pay, benefits offboarding, and retrieval of company property.
- Maintain accurate records of employee transitions in HRIS and personnel files.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions related to policies, time off, benefits, and general HR topics.
- Support supervisors in managing performance issues, documenting conversations, and following consistent corrective action procedures.
- Address employee concerns professionally and discreetly; escalate complex matters when needed.
- Organize occasional employee recognition or morale-boosting events (e.g., team lunches, service anniversaries).
Performance Management & Supervisor Support
- Coordinate performance review cycles, ensuring timely completion and storage of evaluations.
- Support managers in goal-setting discussions and coaching conversations.
- Track probationary and annual review dates to support compliance and employee development tracking.
Compliance & Policy Administration
- Ensure ongoing compliance with employment laws and internal policies (FMLA, ADA, OSHA, etc.).
- Update the employee handbook and policy documents as needed to reflect regulatory changes.
- Manage employee files, I-9 verification, and background check processes.
- Prepare and submit required reports (EEO-1, ACA filings, unemployment responses, etc.).
HR Systems & Records
- Maintain accuracy of HRIS data, including job titles, reporting structures, and pay rates.
- Generate reports as requested for audits, headcount, or compliance tracking—ad hoc, not dashboard-based.
- Liaise with payroll/finance for employee status changes and timekeeping corrections.
Office & Administrative Support
- Oversee basic office operations including supplies, mail, facility maintenance coordination, and equipment management.
- Manage vendor relationships for office supplies, cleaning services, or other admin contracts.
- Provide general administrative support to leadership or departments when needed.
Special Projects & Ad Hoc Support
- Assist with initiatives such as open enrollment, policy rollouts, system transitions, or annual compliance reviews.
- Take on additional HR support functions as the business scales or organizational needs evolve.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a multi-functional generalist role.
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and influence across all levels of the organization.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and understanding of HRIS systems.
- Demonstrated success managing confidential information and sensitive employee matters.
- HRCI (PHR) or SHRM-CP certification strongly preferred.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
