· Liaise with hiring managers, candidates and recruitment agencies as required.

· Coordinate pre-employment checks, including right to work checks and references.

Employee Relations & HR Advice

· Take the lead in managing formal HR procedures, including disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence management processes.

· Lead or coordinate workplace investigations, prepare formal correspondence and support managers throughout employee relations cases.

· Ensure procedures are handled fairly, consistently and in accordance with company policies and employment legislation, escalating complex or high-risk matters to the Group HR Manager.

HR Policies & Compliance

· Work closely with the Group HR Manager to maintain HR policies, procedures, employee handbooks and standard documentation.

· Keep up to date with UK employment legislation and identify areas requiring review or improvement.

· Ensure compliance with employment requirements, data protection obligations and internal procedures.

Performance, Reporting & Development

· Support managers with probationary reviews, performance management, absence management and employee development.

· Maintain HR records and prepare reports on recruitment, absence and other HR matters as required.

· Report regularly to the Group HR Manager on HR activity, employee relations cases and emerging issues.

· Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and support wider HR projects across the Group.

Requirements

Essential

· Previous experience in a generalist HR role, with the ability to manage day-to-day HR responsibilities independently.

· Experience managing recruitment, onboarding and employment contracts.

· Practical experience of employee relations, including disciplinary and grievance procedures.

· Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging with employees, managers and senior stakeholders.

· Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.

· Sound judgement, discretion and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.

· Good IT skills and confidence using HR systems and Microsoft Office.

· A proactive, practical approach, with the ability to work autonomously and recognise when matters require escalation.

Desirable

· CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 qualification, or working towards a relevant qualification.

· Experience working across multiple companies or sites.

· Experience within construction, engineering, contracting or another operationally focused industry.

· Experience reviewing and improving HR policies, procedures and employment documentation.
