JOB SUMMARY:

The HR Generalist manages everyday HR operations and employee life-cycle administration. Core duties include, supporting recruitment process, maintaining the HRIS (ADP Workforce Now), processing employee actions, preparing orientation, coordinating IT access, and supporting payroll and benefits data accuracy. The role also organizes engagement events, oversees vendor services, administers programs (safety shoes/glasses, fitness subsidy, service awards, RRSP/DPSP), maintains HR records, and handles policy inquiries.

EDUCATION:

  • A bachelor’s degree, and a certificate or diploma in Human Resources Management preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-2 years experience working in an HR department is an asset.
  • Previous payroll experience is an asset.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Strong data entry skills and high attention to detail. Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Flexible with the ability to adapt, respond quickly and manage change in a fast paced environment.
  • Able to analyze and interpret data.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in Workforce Now, ADP, SAP or other integrated enterprise system
Responsibilities
  • Support the recruitment process
  • Maintains HR systems including Workforce Now/ HRIS, employee notification and on/off boarding process
  • Initiates employee action forms (new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions or other changes) and ensures information is up to date and accurate for each employee.
  • Supports Orientation preparation.
  • Schedules medical assessments with WMC for employees as required.
  • Coordinate with IT to create network access to systems.
  • Maintains organizational charts.
  • Assist with various types of letters and employment contracts.
  • Assists in delivering HR services as required including internal job posting process and providing training and support to employees in use of online tools.
  • Answers questions related to HR policies/ benefits/ programs
  • Coordinates company events that assist in building and enhancing employee engagement. This includes Town Hall meetings, holiday celebrations, CPL Scholarship Program, employee service award program.
  • Responsible for vendor relationships including invoicing and annual vendor reviews (including, but not limited to, snack vendor, coffee vendor, etc.)
  • Manages My CPL HR intranet site and CPL campus bulletin boards for content and updates appropriately.
  • Administers and tracks HR employee support programs including but not limited to safety shoes, fitness subsidy, life event recognition, safety glasses etc.
  • Supports audit requirements regarding collection of employee information for external customers/agencies.
  • Responsible for working in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures; properly uses personal protection and safety equipment as required by CPL; reports any injury or illness immediately and notifies CPL of any hazard’s unsafe acts or conditions in the workplace.
  • Maintains HR drive.
  • Ensures documents/records are maintained and files are archived at appropriate time interval.
  • Administration of payroll information and timecard review. This includes maintaining employee personnel records to complete bi-weekly payroll forms.
  • Processes DPSP/RRSP remittance to Canada Life.
  • Other duties as assigned.
