SUMMARY Performs a variety of HR related duties including but not limited to: benefits administration, recruitment/employment, onboarding, policy administration, compensation, employee file maintenance, employee relations, performance management and general administration. Responsibilities Performs benefits administration duties such as entering new enrollees to benefit plans, preparing census reports, COBRA notifications, FMLA administration, STD/LTD administration, assuring required employee notices are distributed to employees, etc. Assists in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures. May prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end reports as required. Manages employee recognition programs by keeping inventory of awards and employee gifts; net income awards, sales awards and other trips; sends out letters as employees become eligible for such awards. Maintains up-to-date file of job descriptions and employee handbook. Performs administrative functions for the department such as filing, making photocopies, faxing documents, updating employee directory and organization charts, following up with employees on documents not submitted on time and other support functions. Processes employee background checks. Participates in human resources projects that arise. Schedules meetings in house and at hotels and/or restaurants. Requirements Job Requirements This is a sedentary role in an office environment. May involve some lifting of files and boxes. May involve bending or standing to file documents. May need to travel to local branch offices to meet with employees. Must be able to stand, use hands and fingers and reach with hands and arms. Skills & Abilities Must be able to work with highly confidential information and keep that information secure without sharing it with anyone outside the department. Must be results oriented, knowing when to take action and when to seek guidance or permission; organized and adaptable to changing work conditions. Must be able to identify and resolve somewhat complex problems. Must be able to handle sensitive or difficult issues with confidence and in a calm manner without being unduly influenced by intense emotions. Must demonstrate strong customer service orientation. Assertive but respectful in communications with customers and team. Excellent communication (listening, speaking, writing) & diplomacy skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook and Internet Explorer. Skilled in use of Excel, and Word tools. Experience using other standard office equipment such as telephone, photocopier and fax machine. Qualifications AA or BA in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. One to two years of experience working in human resources preferred. At least 2 years working in a business office environment.
