Description
Description Socket Fiber is one of the fastest growing fiber internet providers in Missouri and is dedicated to building and expanding high-speed fiber optic networks that connect communities. Socket Fiber is a company with more than 25 years of experience. We are committed to innovation, quality, and delivering exceptional service to our customers. Join our dynamic team and be a part of shaping the future of connectivity! As an HR Generalist at Socket Fiber, you won't just be "human resources"—you’ll be the backbone of our employee experience and the precision engine behind our payroll. We are looking for a versatile professional who can pivot from resolving a complex benefits query to running a flawless semi-monthly payroll cycle. You’ll play a critical role in maintaining our culture of connectivity while ensuring our internal operations are as high-speed and reliable as the fiber optics we provide to our customers. This role will be located onsite in Columbia, MO. What You’ll Do Key responsibilities include: Payroll & Compensation End-to-End Payroll: Own the full payroll cycle for all employees, ensuring accuracy in hourly rates, salaries, commissions, and bonuses. Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll taxes and labor laws. Reporting: Generate monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll reports (e.g., W-2s, 941s) and assist with annual audits. Employee Lifecycle & Relations Recruiting: Partner with current recruiter to support the full recruitment lifecycle, assisting with job postings, resume screening, and interview coordination. Onboarding: Lead the orientation process to ensure every new "Socketeer" feels welcomed and equipped from Day 1. Employee Relations: Act as a trusted advisor for staff and management, providing guidance on policy interpretation and conflict resolution. Offboarding: Conduct exit interviews and manage the separation process with professionalism and empathy. Benefits & Administration Benefits Oversight: Manage open enrollment, COBRA, 401(k) administration, and leaves of absence (FMLA/STD). HRIS Management: Keep our employee database pristine. If it’s data-driven, you’re the gatekeeper. Compliance & Safety: Ensure the company remains compliant with EEO, OSHA, and ADA requirements. What We’re Looking For To be considered for this role, you'll need the following required qualifications: Experience: 3+ years of HR Generalist experience, with at least 2 years of direct payroll processing responsibility. 1+ years of full life cycle recruiting experience. Technical Savvy: Proficiency with HRIS and Payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, or UKG). Strong Excel skills are a must (think VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables). Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills—you can explain complex tax withholdings to a teammate just as easily as you can write a company-wide policy update. Integrity: Absolute discretion when handling confidential information. Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field preferred however not required. Why Join Socket Fiber?
