JOB SUMMARY:

In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of The Bethania Group, the main responsibilities of the HR Generalist to advise managers and directors in all HR practices, to provide information to employees about policies and regulations, contract language, solving performance problems and to implement human resource programs by providing human resources services such as: talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations, recruitment and retention. Employment Standards compliance, and labour relations. The HR Generalist also performs a wide variety of both complex and routine administrative services. This position functions within a multisite organization that is committed to provide excellence in service to elderly residents within the health care continuum.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of the Human Resources Management Certificate Program or BA with major in Human Resources/Business Administration or a suitable combination of training and experience
  • CHRP designation or working towards will be considered an asset

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 - 5 years experience working in Human Resources is required
  • Previous experience working in a unionized environment is required
  • Previous experience using Quadrant Workforce software and/or scheduling software in a health care setting is an asset
  • Employee Relations/Labour Relations experience is required
  • Project Management experience is desired

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • General current knowledge of Employment Law - Federal and Provincial legislation, Employment Standards
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, written and communication skills
  • Excellent organizations skills - able to reprioritize as the workload dictates
  • Proficient use of computers and word processing skills using Microsoft Office
  • Administrative writing, reading and math skills
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with difficult situations in an efficient and effective manner
  • Strong level of influence and negotiation skills
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to multi-task and meet time sensitive deadlines in an effective manner
  • Ability to work independently; to plan, prioritize and organize own work

  • Ability to maintain files - Personnel files, Project files, etc.

    Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
    Contract length: 18 months
    Pay: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
