Job Title: Human Resources Generalist  Department: Human Resources  Reports To: Senior Director, Human Resources  Job Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly)  Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM  Pay Rate: $21.00 - $22.00 per hour  Location: Hagerstown, MD  The Arc of Washington County is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our 8-person Human Resources department plays a critical role in ensuring smooth operations and fostering positive employee experience across the organization.  Position Summary:  The Human Resources Generalist provides both technical and administrative support across a wide range of HR functions and initiatives. This role supports key areas including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, compliance and employee engagement. The HR Generalist ensures consistent application of HR policies, supports organizational initiatives, and contributes to a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Uses professional judgement with moderate supervision and adapts procedures as needed. A valid driver’s license and two years of driving experience are required.  Key Responsibilities:  * Models customer service and reinforces Person-Centered Practices and core values. * Supports full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, and onboarding. * Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as internal policies and procedures.  * Supports employee relations by addressing employee inquiries, assisting with investigations, and promoting a positive work environment.  * Manage and schedule all employee health screenings (drug screens, physical appointments, TB, etc.). * Act as a liaison during scheduled audits, coordinating records, facilitating reviews, and maintaining adherence to compliance standards.  * Updates HRIS systems, ensuring accurate employee records and data integrity. * Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all responsibilities. * Supports daily HR operations and implements department processes. * Completes Maryland Board of Nursing complaints and subpoenas as assigned. * Participates in and supports the Employee Appreciation Committee and other HR initiatives. * Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications:  * Associate’s degree (or 60 college credits) in business with an HR focus required; bachelor’s preferred. * Minimum 2 years of HR experience, including exposure to recruitment, benefits, workers’ comp, FMLA, and leave management. * Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Publisher. * Must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily; reasonable accommodation is available as needed.
