CEE Centre for Young Black Professionals(CEE) is dedicated to addressing economic issues effecting Black youth. Our vision is to help Black youth who face multiple barriers achieve financial stability for themselves and their families, helping to strengthen the communities in which they live. Our mission is to increase economic opportunities for Black youth living in Toronto’s priority neighborhoods, supporting them in the areas of employability, social enterprise and entrepreneurship. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field
  • CHRP designation
  • 3+ years in management roles such as Human Resources, Business Administration or related
  • Extensive knowledge of HR policies, ESA and Employment Law
  • Familiar with HR Software such as Collage, Workday, BambooHR and HRIS
  • Strong MS Office (Office 365) skills
  • Written and Verbal Communication skills
  • Basic financial knowledge for long term planning and budgeting

Responsibilities

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Human Resource Manager is an experienced individual in conflict resolution and team building. While also being detail oriented and organized. They provide support for a variety of human resource functions including but not limited to Employment Law, Recruitment & Selection, Compensation, Benefits, Training & Development, and Performance management. As part of the leadership team, they are responsible for making sure CEE’s internal infrastructure, processes and policies operate efficiently and in compliance with the legalities that govern a registered charity.
The HR manager advises managers, and employees as necessary according to the ESA and other legal entities. The HR manager also performs a variety of administrative tasks ensuring that CEE operates effectively. Coordinate closely with Finance department about payroll and benefits to assess risk management as it relates to HR.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary

  • Oversee, refine, and execute employee standards and procedures, using and improving HR existing and recommended systems and processes
  • Maintain and enhance employee benefits programs, including compensation, health insurance, expenses, vacation, and other personnel packages
  • Assist with recruitment efforts and prepare employees for assignments by establishing and/or conducting orientation and training programs.
  • Responsible for creating retention and succession plans to oversee the employee life cycle
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable HR federal and provincial requirements, conducting investigations, and maintaining records
  • Identify and recommend areas of improvement to internal standard operating procedures, including team restructuring and morale
  • Lead the change management of new HR solutions, implementation of HR policies, and HR procedures in the workplace

Secondary

  • Support departments in developing and implementing HR strategy and initiatives aligned with CEE’s overall business strategy
  • Develop training and development plans for new hires and current employees
  • Bridging management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances and other issues
  • Assist senior management with the formulation of staffing goals, turnover tracking etc.
  • Communicate HR initiatives to management and employees
  • Supervise the maintenance of personal records
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital
  • Evaluate potential or proposed termination actions for managers and employees to ensure it is conducted in accordance with the law
  • Review and approve proposed corrective action plan for managers and employees
