BGC Dovercourt is looking for an HR MANAGER (MAT LEAVE CONTRACT)
We are a not-for-profit organization that provides after school, summer and March break programs for over 1,600 children and youth at two locations in Toronto’s west end. The mission of the Club is to provide a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
Job Type: Contract, covering maternity Leave from October 2025- January 2026
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: Dovercourt Clubhouse, 180 Westmoreland Ave
Hours: 35 Hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the overall coordination, delegation and management of all BGC Dovercourt Club’s Human Resources.

SKILLS

  • Knowledge of Ontario Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Ontario Human Rights Code
  • Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills, ability to establish rapport with members, staff and volunteers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A capacity to work within a team and initiative to work independently when required
  • Well-developed problem solving skills
  • Ability to exercise initiative, flexibility and sound judgement when handling unpredictable situations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma or Degree in HR Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of HR experience
  • Clear vulnerable sector reference check (mandatory)

Responsibilities
  • Keep current with relevant legislation, review and update organizational policies/manuals as required
  • Work closely with management to communicate all HR related duties and ensure all expectations and requirements are being met on a timely and consistent basis
  • Ensure alignment across all locations and departments and compliance with policies and procedures
  • Oversee the day to day HR functions required by the organization, including but not limited to: creating job postings/descriptions, managing the recruitment/hiring/termination process, maintaining employee files, managing the employee performance evaluation process, tracking employee entitlements, etc.
  • Coordinate Collective Bargaining responsibilities and consult with senior managers on all union related matters, including employee disciplinary meetings
  • Develop long term HR objectives and strategies that encourage talent and skill development and enhance the overall workplace culture
  • Apply a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality regarding sensitive employee information
  • Provide administrative support throughout the bi-weekly payroll process
  • Develop and facilitate workshops and training sessions for up to 100 staff members
  • Build an efficient and sustainable HR team to develop and meet measurable goals
  • Research best practices across the sector and adapt strategies as necessary to produce a proven track record of success
