Description

As HR Manager you are responsible for our location in Leiden. This is an individual contributor role, where you will be expected to take a hands-on approach to a wide range of HR activities. You handle all HR-related matters, recruitment, administration (payroll is partially outsourced), education, contacts with the works council, and everything in between.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all related employee life cycle operations, included but not limited to benefits, payroll processing in collaboration with payroll vendor, and absences.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on Dutch HR policies, procedures, and best practices. Ensure compliance with all employment laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with corporate HR and corporate Centers of Excellence in deploying locally all company-wide HR initiatives.
  • Lead talent management initiatives, including workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership development in collaboration with corporate CoEs.
  • Drive employee engagement and retention strategies.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues.
  • Guide ill employees considering “Wet Poortwachter.”
  • Oversee performance management processes and provide coaching to managers on effective performance management techniques.
  • Partner with senior leadership to develop and implement HR strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with the corporate recruitment team on talent acquisition while managing site-level hiring needs directly.
  • Responsible for providing required reports as per corporate requests (headcount, turnover, etc.). Analyze HR metrics and data to inform decision-making and measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives.
  • Lead and participate in HR projects and initiatives that support organizational growth and development.
  • Foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.
  • This is a full-time position, requiring a standard schedule of 40 hours per week.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Fluent in both Dutch and English.
  • Proven experience in a similar role; at least 5 years of progressive HR experience, with several years in a generalist/HRBP role.
  • Experience in the life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical sector is preferred.
  • Proven experience partnering with works councils.
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices and employment laws.
  • Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
