We are looking for someone passionate about supporting colleagues during their employment with us. Yo u will be committed to delivering a compassionate, professional and effective HR Service.
You will have a good standard of written and verbal communication with attention to detail and Microsoft office / IT skills. Excellent time management skills will be required, with the ability to organise your time effectively to meet competing and often changing deadlines.
You will be Level 3 CIPD qualified with an associate CIPD membership. However, the opportunity to undertake this role as an apprentice for those without this will be considered.

To be the first point of contact for managers and employees to access the services of the HR Business Team.
Develop a detailed knowledge of, and work to, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and be able to direct queries to a successful and complete resolution, by providing information and advice on a wide range of topics and issues, taking care to implement key actions accurately and completely, aiming to meet operational target dates, deadlines and other priorities.
As one of Europe’s biggest and busiest children’s hospitals, at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, we treat everything from common illnesses to highly complex and specialist conditions. In addition to our main hospital site, we offer paediatric services at a number of community sites and hold local clinics across Merseyside, Cumbria, Shropshire, Wales and the Isle of Man. We also provide specialist inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs in our recently relocated and newly opened state of the art facility.

Communication Skills
Provide consistent, accurate information to managers and employees on all terms and conditions including Agenda for Change and HR policies in line with best practice.
Use language that is appropriate when providing advice and support – helping managers and employees to understand policies and processes, helping them to gain knowledge and understanding, being compassionate to sensitive matters that are discussed. This will involve using tact and persuasive skills where there are barriers to understanding.
Liaise with internal departments including Recruitment, Employment Services, Finance, etc., and external departments such as Occupational Health, as appropriate.
Provide reports and commentary to managers to take action and escalate where required.
Provide information and administrative support as required by the HR teams.
Analytical Skills
Deal with and advise on a range of queries from Trust managers and employees on policies and procedures and refer unresolved queries to the HR Advisor.
Review reports on post-employment checks and other HR reports including fixed term contract, professional registration expiry, and sickness absence data, escalating any issues to the HR Advisor when necessary.
Extract and review the exit questionnaire feedback report, escalating to senior members of the HR Business Team when a further investigation is required based on the feedback provided.
Planning and Organising Skills
Assist the HR Business Team members with employee relations cases and other such procedures, when appropriate including arranging meetings / hearings.
Assist the HR Business Team in arranging HR training sessions, mediation meetings and policy working groups and complete any associated administrative tasks.
Assist the HR Business Team with the delivery of training to line managers.
Assist with co-ordinating Subject Access Requests and Freedom of Information requests, ensuring compliance with and adherence to timescales.
Advise on job descriptions and associated grading/banding issues. Assist in arranging Job Evaluations panels and complete the associated administrative tasks.
Provide admin support, including minute taking for external and internal meetings as required to support HR teams.
Responsibility for Policy/Service Development
Contribute ideas within the HR Business Team on the drafting, formulation and implementation of existing and development of new policies, procedures and standard operating procedures.
Adhere to all policies as applicable.
Act responsibly in respect of colleague’s health, safety and welfare following safe work practices and complying with Health and Safety Policies.
Operate at all times in a manner that underpins the principals of the equality agenda.
Responsibility for Information Resources
Manage appropriate shared mailboxes, ensuring that all emails are responded to in a timely manner and documents are filed electronically in the correct place and appropriately named.
To update ESR and ER Tracker in a timely manner in relation to all employee relations cases to enable accurate reports to be run.
Ensure to adhere to the ESR Standard Operating Procedures and that all inputting is done accurately and timely.
To support the HR Business Team in extracting and maintaining various reports. Also support the maintenance of various databases relating to a range of HR matters.
Ensure all computerised personal records are maintained in a satisfactory manner, i.e. processed fairly and lawfully, are up-to-date, accurate secure, and appropriate controls are put in place in order to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018.
Responsibility for Human Resources
Identify own training and development needs and undertake appropriate training/education as required.
Participate in an annual individual performance development review process where objectives will be agreed, performance monitored and personal development needs discussed.
To attend all statutory and mandatory training as and when required to do so.
To work in a manner consistent with the CIPD Code of Professional Conduct
