Working hours: Full time (35 hours per week), with the option for flexible and hybrid working. Part time working may be considered for an exceptional candidate.
Salary: £33,000 to £35,000 per annum subject to qualifications and experience

CRITERIA

  • Entry level qualification in HR or working towards (for example Level 3 Certificate in People Practice) or able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
  • Proven current experience in a first line HR advisory role, or as a minimum experience in a HR support or related role (for example HR Assistant, HR Administrator, Training Assistant)
  • A sound understanding of the principles of recruitment and ideally experience of providing administration support or first line advice to the recruitment process.

Responsibilities
  • To work collaboratively with the Programme Management Office, including with the Programme Managers, to ensure that the HR requirements of parishes are fully identified prior to job vacancies going live, including for SMIBB and national church funded projects. This will include undertaking a needs assessment and agreeing required levels of HR support.
  • To provide first line HR support and advice to parishes covering matters relating to recruitment, selection, and appointment, considering employment law, HR best practice and the Church of England’s Safer Recruitment Guidance.
  • To provide first line HR support and line advice to parishes and wider stakeholders about general employment matters, including family friendly leave, grievance, disciplinary, investigation, sickness absence, staff welfare and wellbeing, restructure, and redundancy, considering employment law and HR best practice.
  • Able to recognise when to escalate HR matters to the HR Adviser or HR Manager, so matters can be risk assessed and appropriate advice provided for more complex matters.
