Description

ABOUT THE COMPANY

OMA is an international architecture and urbanism practice founded in 1975, with offices in Rotterdam, New York, Hong Kong, and Australia. Over the past four decades, OMA has produced a broad portfolio of projects, employing a team of more than 200 architects, designers, and researchers with a diverse range of experience and expertise. AMO, a research and design studio, often works in parallel with OMA’s clients, enriching architecture with intelligence drawn from a wide range of other disciplines.
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive, highly skilled, and detail-driven HR Operations & Compliance Officer to join our Rotterdam-based HR team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for leading and advising on HR operations, employment law, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions. You will act as a trusted first point of contact for HR-related legal and procedural questions, providing clarity and support to both the HR team and OMA management.
The ideal candidate is someone who is always three steps ahead: organised, self-starting, and solution-oriented, with deep knowledge of Dutch labour law and international HR best practices. You thrive in complex, fast-moving environments and are passionate about optimising HR systems and ensuring legal compliance in a global context.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance on employment contracts, policies, terminations, and workplace legislation;
  • Monitor changes in labour laws and ensure OMA’s internal practices remain fully compliant;
  • Draft, implement, and maintain HR policies that align with both local and global legal frameworks;
  • Drive continuous improvement of HR processes and systems, enhancing operational efficiency and risk mitigation;
  • Maintain precise and up-to-date documentation for all HR processes to ensure transparency and knowledge continuity;
  • Lead and coordinate Health & Safety initiatives in the Rotterdam office;
  • Actively contribute to building a cohesive and inclusive organisational culture.

    What We’re Looking For

  • A driven professional with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Labour Law, Business Administration, or a related field;

  • At least 3 years of experience in an HR role with a strong focus on employment law and compliance in the Netherlands (experience with US and/or Hong Kong regulations is a plus);
  • Strong command of Dutch Health & Safety legislation;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Dutch and English;
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information;
  • A team player with a collaborative mindset, capable of building strong working relationships across all levels of the organisation;
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a multicultural and fast-paced environment;
  • Experience with cloud-based HR and ERP systems;
  • A natural problem-solver who anticipates challenges before they arise and takes initiative to resolve them.
