Description

The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts is recognised as a world leading provider of creative learning and vocational training within the performing arts and creative economies. We have an international and national reputation for the quality of our teaching, our world class facilities and a track record of graduate employment and alumni successes.
We are looking to recruit an experienced HR & Payroll Manager to join our supportive and collaborative HR & Payroll team. You will report to the Head of HR, Culture and Transformation and provide guidance and support to line managers across the full employee lifecycle. This is an exciting time to join the team to support the implementation of a new integrated HR and Payroll System and help us to drive continuous improvements and excellence in service delivery.

Main duties include

  • Oversight of our in-house Payroll and Pensions team, to support completion of monthly salaried payroll and monthly pay claims from Visiting Professionals and Casual staff (circa 450 staff).
  • To support the team with monthly/yearly payroll and pension reconciliations, pension regulations and statutory deadlines.
  • Ensure accurate processing of statutory payments including SSP, SMP, PAYE and NIC.
  • To support recruitment, onboarding and inductions.
  • To oversee HR administration including offer letters, contracts and changes in terms and conditions.
  • To advise managers and staff about policies, procedures and processes, and update as required.
  • To support HR processes including disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence management as required.
  • To contribute to projects such as the implementation of the new HRIS as part of the implementation of the Human Resources Strategy.
  • Prepare HR and Payroll KPI reports (absenteeism, overtime, employee turnover etc)

The ideal candidate will be qualified to at least CIPD Level 5 and will have proven experience in HR and payroll management, as we process payroll and pensions inhouse. Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail in data entry tasks, and the ability to manage multiple priorities is essential. You will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with employees at all levels, and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and professionally is essential.
You will have strong proficiency in payroll systems, Excel and Microsoft packages. Experience of working in education and processing teachers’ pensions would be advantageous but is not essential as training can be provided. This is a full time, office-based position to commence as soon as possible. Some hybrid working is available.
In return we offer a highly creative working environment that will inspire you to fulfil your potential and training opportunities to develop your skills and experience, competitive salary commensurate with experience, pension options (default scheme ER 4% / EE 4% or enhanced contribution ER 16.48% / EE 8.6-9.6%), 25 days holiday per year rising to 30 days after 5 years’ service plus statutory bank holidays, Christmas closure and complimentary tickets to our inhouse productions.
Closing date for applications: Thursday 29th May 2025 at 12pm but early application is recommended as we expect interest in the role to be high, and we may close applications early.
