POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting directly to the HR Manager, the HR Programs & Safety Coordinator plays a key role in supporting Cedars Recovery’s human resources programs, staff training, and workplace safety initiatives. This role manages new employee orientations, coordinates training and certification tracking, supports recruitment activities, and co-leads employee engagement and OH&S committees. The Coordinator works closely with the HR Manager and department leaders to ensure compliance, foster a safe and positive workplace culture, and maintain Cedars’ high standards of excellence and compassionate care.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:HR Program Support:

  • Assist the HR Manager with a wide range of HR activities, including drafting job descriptions, coordinating and participating in interviews, and conducting reference checks.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records in compliance with policy and legislation.
  • Support policy and procedure updates as directed by the HR Manager.
  • Assist with employee recognition programs, engagement events, and other HR-led initiatives.
  • Attend meetings, committees, and professional development workshops as requested.
  • Collaborate with department managers to bridge knowledge gaps in safety, HR programs, and operations.
  • Co-Chair the Social Committee, organizing staff events within budget.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to produce the weekly “Leaflet” staff newsletter.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the HR Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS & CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Reports directly to the HR Manager.
  • Three-month probationary period; annual performance review.
  • Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check required.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Statutory holidays as per the BC Employment Standards Act (BCESA)
  • Will conduct themselves according to the Employee Code of Conduct including maintaining professional boundaries at all times.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and positive working relationships.
  • Employees in recovery must be engaged in a recovery program and substance-free for a minimum of two (2) years.
