Description Job Title: HR Projects and Analytics Intern Department: Human Resources Reports To: Director of Human Resources Status: Temporary, part-time, paid internship (benefits ineligible) Pay Rate: $16.20 per hour Work Hours: Up to 29 hours per week; must work a minimum of 20 hours per week Anticipated End Date: September 30, 2026 (position is not expected to continue beyond this date) Job Summary The HR Projects and Analytics Intern provides project-based and analytical support to the Human Resources Department. This position assists with HR data reporting, surveys, file and data cleanup, and the planning and coordination of HR programs and events, such as training, wellness activities, and recognition initiatives. The intern role is designed to provide meaningful municipal HR experience while supporting key projects and day-to-day operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in developing and maintaining routine HR reports and dashboards, including headcount, vacancies, turnover, tenure, and training records using HRIS data and Excel. Support planning and logistics for HR events and programs such as wellness activities, benefits education, appreciation events, and internal training. Help design and administer employee surveys using approved tools; compile responses and prepare summary charts and basic analysis for HR leadership. Assist with HR data clean-up projects, including verification and correction of information in the HRIS and electronic personnel files. Prepare draft materials such as sign-in sheets, evaluation forms, flyers, slide decks, and simple communication pieces for review by HR staff. Assist with file audits and organization of electronic and paper personnel records as directed. Conduct basic research on HR best practices, training resources, or vendor information and summarize findings for the HR Director. Support updates to HR intranet content and shared drives to ensure forms, templates, and resources are organized and current. Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and City information and follow all HR and City policies and procedures. Perform other related duties and project work as assigned. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office environment with a standard Monday through Friday schedule; specific hours will be determined based on department needs and the intern’s academic or personal schedule. Position is scheduled for 20 to 29 hours per week. Occasional support at events or training outside standard hours may be requested with advance notice. Additional Position Information This is a temporary, part-time, paid internship created for short-term project support. The position is benefits-ineligible and is anticipated to end on September 30, 2026 (or sooner). Continued employment beyond that date is not expected and would be at the City’s discretion based on departmental needs and available funding. Requirements Minimum Qualifications Current enrollment in or recent completion of a bachelor's or master's program in human resources, public administration, business administration, data analytics, or a related field. Strong proficiency in Excel, including sorting, filtering, basic formulas, and charting. Skilled in Adobe Acrobat, including form creation, PDF editing, redaction, and document preparation. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with data and documents. Preferred Qualifications Coursework or experience in human resources, statistics, analytics, or research methods. Experience working with survey tools and basic data visualization. Interest in public sector or municipal government work. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Clear written and verbal communication skills. Comfort learning new systems and software with guidance. Ability to work collaboratively with a small team and take direction from multiple HR staff as needed.
