Midland Transport is currently seeking an HR Specialist for our Moncton Terminal. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the HR Specialist provides proactive, hands-on human resources support to terminal managers and employees across an assigned region.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • You have a minimum of 2-4 years of progressive HR experience
  • You have a post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Bilingualism (French and English) would be an asset but not a requirement
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices
  • You have energy, enthusiasm, and a professional demeanor
  • You have excellent problem-solving skills and sound judgement in handling sensitive employee matters
  • Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to build rapport and influence at all levels
  • Proficiency with Microsoft edge (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • The HR Specialist will be responsible for providing HR support to terminals, travel will be required

Responsibilities
  • Act as the first point of contact for terminal managers and supervisors on day-to-day HR matters, including employee relations, attendance management, performance concerns, and HR policies and practices
  • Support terminal-level execution and analysis of employee engagement and retention initiatives and action planning
  • Provide guidance and coaching to front-line managers on HR practices and workplace investigations in alignment with applicable laws and organizational policies
  • Support employees with questions concerning pay, benefits, attendance, vacation, leave of absence, and uniforms allowances
  • Collaborate with HR Coordinators to ensure the accurate and timely maintenance of our HR systems (i.e. HCM, Kronos) and processing of employee data and documentation
  • Travel regularly to terminals within the assigned region to build in-person relationships and maintain visible HR presence
  • Analyze HR trends and metrics and make recommendations to support strategic HR planning
