Description Location: Raleigh, NC Status: Full-Time, non-exempt About the Role SMT, Inc., a leader in sheet metal fabrication, is looking for a people-focused HR Specialist who genuinely enjoys helping employees, solving problems, and keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. This role is the go-to support for employees with questions, concerns, and day-to-day HR needs, while also playing a key role in recruiting, onboarding, and employee engagement activities. If you’re organized, approachable, and thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment where no two days look the same, this role may be a great fit. This is an in-office position. Typical hours are 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM but could go past 3:00 on some days to assist 2nd shift. What You’ll Do Employee Support & Engagement · Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions regarding policies, benefits, payroll, time off, and general HR matters · Provide guidance and support on employee issues, escalating as appropriate · Help foster a positive, respectful, and engaged workplace culture Recruiting & Onboarding · Coordinate recruiting support including job postings, resume screening, interview scheduling, and candidate communication · Assist with new-hire onboarding, orientation, and paperwork to ensure a smooth and welcoming start · Partner with hiring managers to ensure staffing needs are met efficiently HR Administration · Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation · Support HR systems and data entry within the HRIS · Assist with compliance-related tasks and audits as needed Events & Culture · Help plan and coordinate employee events, celebrations, trainings, and engagement initiatives · Support company communications related to HR programs and activities What We’re Looking For · 2+ years of experience in an HR, People Operations, or administrative support role (manufacturing environment a plus) · Strong interpersonal skills with a genuine desire to help others · Excellent organization and follow-through skills · Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism · Comfortable juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment · Proficiency with Microsoft Office · Prior experience using Paylocity is a plus Why SMT, Inc. · People-driven culture where HR plays a meaningful, visible role · Opportunity to be involved in all areas of HR, not just paperwork · Stable, growing organization with long-tenured employees · Collaborative team environment with room to learn and grow
