JOB SUMMARY:

The HR Specialist will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Human Resources department, with a focus on recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and compliance. This role plays a vital part in maintaining a strong and engaged workforce within a fast-paced, transportation-focused environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Responsibilities
  • Assist in full-cycle recruitment for drivers, office, and support staff
  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation processes for new hires
  • Maintain up-to-date employee records and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with federal/provincial employment regulations (e.g., WSIB, ESA, DOT/FMCSA for driver files)
  • Support benefits enrollment, time-off tracking, and payroll coordination
  • Address employee questions, concerns, and policy interpretations
  • Monitor and maintain driver qualification files and training records
  • Assist in performance review tracking and disciplinary documentation
  • Contribute to employee engagement initiatives and retention strategies
  • Collaborate with management on HR policy updates and implementation
