JOB INTRODUCTION

As an HR Support Manager, you will work with Line Managers across the organisation, on various types of employee relations cases, ensuring they understand and adhere to company policy and procedures and make fair, objective and consistent decisions.
You will also support them with all types of recruitment need for our L2 and L3 team members, including CV screening, interviews and hiring events.
Support will cover the full range of employee relations issues so previous experience is essential. The ability to be flexible and adaptable is also a key attribute required for the role.

Responsibilities

Employee relations activities:

  • Ensure prompt and effective case management of employee relations matters including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, performance management and flexible working.
  • Provide efficient and practical employee relations support to line managers on ER cases.
  • Ability to challenge line managers on their management of process and the decisions they make to ensure consistency and fairness as well as assessing risk.
  • Demonstrates empathy and objectivity when supporting ER matters.
  • Influence line managers to take ownership and accountability for the performance and development of their team members as well as managing their conduct when it falls below the expectations.
  • Escalate more complex cases to the Employee Relations Manager and/or Employee Relations Lead.
  • Keep accurate and timely information in line with GDPR.
  • Ensure adherence to policy and procedure in line with best practice and Selfridges Values.

Recruitment activities:

  • Champion inclusive hiring by ensuring the recruitment policy is followed and that interview panels and processes reflect Selfridges’ values of fairness and inclusion.
  • Support recruitment processes by partnering with line managers to review CVs, shortlists & conduct interviews.
  • Support colleagues to make the right hiring decision for their area and the business, ensuring fairness and consistency is at the core of every hiring decision.
  • Experience in supporting recruitment activities and has completed Inclusive Hiring Training.
