ABOUT US

Our work is focused on improving vehicle safety and environmental protection by providing robust testing and certification to national and internationally recognised standards. We are a part of the Department of Transport as the designated UK Vehicle Type Approval Authority. With more than 40 years’ experience, we have become one of the largest and well-respected approval bodies around. This position has been built on a reputation for technical expertise and quality, which is at the heart of everything we do, and what you could be a part of.
Do not just take our word for it, here is Jamie, a HR Business Partner at the VCA, to tell you more.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This role has been appointed to support the Agency with the implementation of the Unity Project, which seeks to align our HR and payroll systems with the Department of Transport (DfT) group. You will need experience of Management Information (MI) systems and reporting data in a variety of formats, as a fundamental part of the role.
Reporting to the senior HR Manager, and with the support of your team and peers, you will lead the data collection for the Unity Project, and will be responsible for extracting and presenting this information accurately. We are seeking an effective communicator, with an attention to detail, who can engage with colleagues and audiences from across your profession. You will need to lead with positivity and assurance as we work to improve our systems and ways of working.
It is important you can adapt in a fast-paced environment, working closely on this project, as well as supporting the HR team with tasks and projects requiring your expertise and skill.
Joining the VCA and our HR team, you will immediately benefit from being in an inclusive environment where you will be supported and guided, with opportunities for additional professional and personal development, to achieve your best. Our benefits package enables the chance to strike a work-life balance, with flexible working arrangements and policies to help you work comfortably.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This role is suitable for hybrid working, and therefore a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements. Hybrid working is a non-contractual arrangement where employees have the flexibility to work remotely combined with a minimum of 60% of their working time a month at either their principal workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, visiting stakeholders and colleagues, or carrying out detached duty in another VCA workplace. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.
If you have questions regarding how hybrid working is practiced within the business area, or any reasonable adjustments or flexible working arrangements you may currently have or need in place if successful in your application, please contact the Vacancy Holder (see advert for contact details).
VCA does not offer Visa sponsorship. Candidates should ensure they have the appropriate rights to work in the UK before application.
Please note that whilst we welcome applications from candidates seeking part-time hours, with this role there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
This post is offered on a Fixed Term Appointment (FTA) basis to complete a finite piece of work.
Permanent Civil Servants will be appointed on an inward loan and subject to the terms of the agreed inward loan. You must have your home departments approval to return to them at the end of the loan before you apply. Internal candidates will return to their previous post at the end of the loan period, which will need to be agreed with your line manager in advance. If your home department cannot agree to release you on loan, there is the opportunity for you to move across to the department on a fixed term appointment. In this instance the Department for Transport would become your home department and if there is no role available for you at the end of this appointment, you would be subject to the redeployment and redundancy process.
If you’re employed by a non-departmental public body (NDPB) by moving jobs this will involve a change of employer and you may break the statutory rules on continuity of employment.
