Description of Work The Human Resources Qualifications and Salary Administration group is looking for a highly motivated individual to perform as a Human Resources Technician II for our group. This group works at a fast pace to meet multiple deadlines with a high degree of accuracy. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Human Resources professional in the areas of qualification and salary administration. This position is responsible for screening job applications to determine qualification status of applicants, as well as reviewing hiring packages to ensure compliance with merit-based hiring practices. This position will review salary recommendations to ensure compliance with salary administration policies. This position works with NCDOT unit staff in interpreting and applying personnel and departmental policies to address issues regarding hiring packages and actions. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC07 / $35,984 - $57,177 Management prefers applicants with the following: Experience screening job applications to determine if they meet the position requirements through the use of an applicant tracking system Experience processing reports in a Human Resources Information System (HRIS) Experience interpreting and applying human resources principles, practices, policies and procedures preferably in the areas of hiring and salary administration Experience providing consultation to business units regarding matters such as hiring, HRIS support, HR operations processes and procedures Experience providing direct customer service to job applicants Minimum Education and Experience Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. Associate’s degree, typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution and 1 year of experience required; or 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
