HR Truck Driver / Operator – Verge Collections & Stormwater Drainage

About Us

Western Maze WA Pty Ltd is a well-established, family-owned and operated company based in Maddington, WA.

Our operations include WA Recycling Services, specialising in local government verge collections, and Western Educting Service, providing stormwater drainage cleaning and maintenance services throughout the Perth metropolitan area.

Due to our ongoing workload, we are looking for HR Truck Drivers / Operators to join our team on a full-time basis.

No previous verge collection or stormwater drainage experience is necessary – full training will be provided.

If you have a current HR licence, a good work ethic and are willing to learn, we can train you in the operation of our specialised vehicles and equipment.

The Role

This is a varied position where you will work across both sides of our business, rather than performing the same driving job every day.

Depending on operational requirements, you may work with our verge collection crews or our stormwater drainage maintenance team.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Driving HR vehicles throughout the Perth metropolitan area
• Operating rear-loading compactor trucks for verge waste collections
• Operating and assisting with vacuum/eductor trucks for stormwater drainage cleaning
• Travelling street-to-street and property-to-property within allocated work areas
• Collecting recyclable materials and transporting them to nominated recycling facilities
• Assisting with stormwater pit, pipe and drainage cleaning
• Completing daily paperwork accurately
• Carrying out vehicle pre-start inspections and required safety checks
• Maintaining a clean and tidy vehicle
• Working carefully around residential properties, parked vehicles and other infrastructure
• Working alongside Bobcat operators, labourers and other members of the crew
• Completing some manual duties outside of the truck as required

This is a hands-on driving position. You will be required to regularly get out of the truck and assist the crew, so applicants must be comfortable undertaking physical and manual work.

What We're Looking For

To be successful, you will need:

• Current Australian HR Driver's Licence
• Full Australian working rights
• A positive, reliable and proactive attitude
• Confidence driving HR vehicles in metropolitan and residential areas
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to learn new equipment and operating procedures
• Basic literacy and ability to complete daily paperwork
• Ability to follow maps, allocated work areas and daily instructions
• Good awareness when working around residential properties and infrastructure
• Willingness to work across different areas of our business
• Physical fitness suitable for a hands-on role
• A genuine willingness to work and be part of the team

No previous experience operating rear-loading compactors or vacuum/eductor trucks is required. Full training will be provided.

Previous experience in waste collection, civil works, drainage, vacuum trucks, truck operation or similar industries would be highly regarded, but is not essential.
