Description

About the role

DCV Plant and Civil is seeking a truck driver for a site-based role driving Tipper / Bulk Haulage (Soil & C&D Waste). You will safely operate heavy tippers, hook-lifts, or skip trucks transporting excavated soil, construction debris, and regulated hazardous materials (specifically asbestos). You will maintain strict compliance with environmental tracking laws, workplace health guidelines, and heavy vehicle safety rules.

Key responsibilities

  • Safely transport non-friable (bonded) and friable asbestos-containing materials (ACM) from demolition and remediation sites to licensed waste disposal facilities
  • Accurately report waste classification and tracking codes to weighbridge operators to satisfy Waste Levy and tracking mandates
  • Verify that all asbestos and contaminated material loads are completely wrapped, sealed (e.g., heavy-duty plastic lining/bags), and securely tarped prior to transport to ensure zero airborne fibre release or spillage in transit
  • Strictly adhere to WorkSafe guidelines by using required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)—including P2 respirators, disposable coveralls, and steel-capped boots—during loading, unloading, and site decontamination phases
  • Follow stringent decontamination and wash-down procedures to ensure wheels and tailgates are free of contaminated residue before entering public roadways
  • Maintain constant communication with site supervisors via UHF radio
  • Comply with HSE policies and procedures
  • Conduct daily pre-starts on all equipment used
  • Ensure that any incident or near misses are reported immediately to your supervisor
  • Participate in meetings, training and other environment, health, and safety activities

About you

  • Minimum 1–2 years of heavy vehicle operation, with proven experience in civil construction, demolition, or hazardous waste logistics
  • Able to receive instructions and communicate in English language
  • Thorough understanding of WorkSafe QLD Asbestos transport codes, National Transport Commission (NTC) load containment, and Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) mass limits
  • High physical capability to assist with heavy-duty tarping, plastic lining adjustments, and managing personal decontamination setups
  • Current Police Check
  • Valid Australian Heavy Rigid (HR) or Heavy Combination (HC) Driver's Licence
  • Clean driving record
  • Current Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Successful completion of Remove Non-Friable Asbestos (Class B) or Asbestos Awareness training
  • We are looking for a motivated professional who is happy to dig in and support the team across various construction tasks matching their skill level
