HR TRUCK DRIVER - WATERCART

Mid-Western Regional Council has an exciting opportunities for full-time HR Truck Drivers - Watercart to drive and operate Council’s heavy rigid watercart trucks for road maintenance and construction works and other Mid-Western Regional Council’s related infrastructure projects as defined in the Delivery and Operational Plans. You will also assist in the delivery of roads maintenance and construction projects.

Responsibilities

YOUR NEW ROLE:

  • To drive and operate Council’s watercart trucks on road maintenance, construction and other related infrastructure works
  • To follow direction and instruction from Work Officers to undertaken duties associated with road maintenance and constructions and perform other duties associated with the position
  • To periodically undertake out of hours (on call) duties
  • Available to work weekends/out of hours during construction projects
  • To maintain trucks in a tidy and serviceable condition
  • Complete daily pre-start checklist of truck to required safety standards and roadworthiness
  • To work as part of a maintenance or construction crew as required
  • Traffic control at worksites – including erection of safety signage and safety barriers
  • Participation in positive two-way radio (UHF) communication as required
  • To actively promote and demonstrate the core values and behavioral requirements of the Workplace Environment Statement

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

  • HR Drivers Licence
  • Two (2) years’ experience in driving HR Trucks
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Competent skills in driving heavy rigid trucks
  • Competent skills in undertaking manual tasks associated with road maintenance and construction work
  • Competent skills in maintaining truck in a tidy and serviceable condition
  • Basic interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
  • Basic communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to carry out instructions
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety (WHS) responsibilities and a commitment to attending relevant WHS training
    The salary range being offered for this position is $2,268-$2,550 gross per fortnight plus superannuation and allowances, which equates to an annual salary of $58,970-$66,320 gross plus superannuation and allowances (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience).
