VICE PRESIDENT – CHIEF ACTUARY – P&C – BERMUDA – 10% TAX – HR126 About this opportunity The Vice President, Chief Actuary serves as the senior actuarial leader for both our client. This role provides strategic direction and oversight on actuarial, enterprise risk management, and capital matters, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The VP, Chief Actuary oversees all actuarial functions, advises Executive Leadership on business planning and financial performance, and leads the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function. As a member of the Finance leadership team, the Chief Actuary works closely with the CFO to safeguard financial soundness, support sustainable growth, and ensure data-driven decision making across the enterprise. Key responsibilities: Actuarial Leadership Direct actuarial functions including pricing, reserving, capital modeling, and catastrophe modeling Provide strategic guidance on a view of all actuarial reports and analyses Ensure adequacy of reserves and financial projections in compliance with regulatory and accounting requirements Assist external consultants in preparing annual reserve opinions and supporting documentation Prepare, liaise, and present to the Executive Leadership, the board, regulators, auditors, reinsurers, rating agencies, and actuarial consultants Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Lead the design, implementation, and execution of the ERM function Facilitate identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting of key risks across the enterprise Partner with business leaders to embed enterprise risk management into strategy, finance, investments, underwriting, claims, and operations Strategic & Financial Advisory Partner with Finance and Investments on forecasting, stress testing and budgeting Provide actuarial insights to inform corporate strategy, product development, and capital allocation Advise the Executive Leadership and Board on emerging trends, risks, and opportunities Support the ceded reinsurance strategy and negotiations with actuarial analyses Team Leadership & Development Manage, coach, and develop a team of 4-5 professionals, including actuaries, catastrophe modelers, and risk management specialists Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture with a focus on accuracy, innovation, and accountability Ensure succession planning, mentoring, and professional growth within the actuarial team What you’ll need Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), or equivalent designation 10+ years of actuarial experience, with at least 4 years in leadership roles Strong background in property & casualty and/or liability lines; mutual insurance experience is beneficial Demonstrated actuarial expertise in reserving, pricing, capital modeling, and ERM Proven ability to communicate complex actuarial and risk concepts to executive and board-level stakeholders How to apply To apply, attach your résumé or include a link to your LinkedIn profile If you don't provide one of the above, we can't progress your application For reasons of confidentiality and to ensure best match for positions, our normal practice is to submit applications to employers only after we have had a Career Consultation with candidates.
