Description

As Brenntag continues to expand its digital HR capabilities, the complexity and scope of our Workday ecosystem and integrated HR technologies demand dedicated architectural leadership. Therefore we’re seeking for a HR Technology Solution Architect. The HR Technology Solution Architect role ensures we design and deliver scalable, future-ready solutions aligned with business goals and industry best practices. This position will drive efficiency, innovation, and governance across critical systems such as payroll, time tracking, and document management—reducing operational risks and enhancing user experience. By centralizing architectural oversight, we strengthen our ability to scale and optimize HR technologies strategically and sustainably.
The HR Technology Solution Architect leads the design and delivery of scalable HR systems, with Workday as the core HCM platform. This role drives system enhancements, process improvements, and integration strategies across a broader HR technology ecosystem, including payroll, document management, and time tracking solutions.
It combines deep functional and technical Workday expertise with strong project management skills and close partnership with HR, IT, and business stakeholders.
The position plays a critical role in shaping the digital HR landscape, aligning technology with business goals, industry best practices, and future scalability.
Reporting to the Associate Director for HR Technology, the Solution Architect will contribute to advancing Brenntag’s digital HR strategy by ensuring Workday continues to be a robust, business-aligned, and future-ready solution.
Responsibilities:

(The primary tasks, functions and deliverables of the role)

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable HR technology solutions, including system enhancements, process improvements, new module deployments, and adoption of new technologies with Workday as the core HCM platform.
  • Translate business requirements into solution designs across Workday and other HR systems such as payroll platforms, document management tools, and time tracking solutions.
  • Lead and execute HR system enhancement projects, managing timelines, resources, risks, and successful delivery.
  • Manage system configuration, testing, deployment, and post-launch support in alignment with internal standards and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with HR, IT, and business stakeholders to understand needs, prioritize initiatives, and drive solution adoption.
  • Analyze the business to propose and design integrations that maximize automation, data integrity, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting, solution design, and continuous system improvement.
  • Leverage market best practices and benchmarking to define and evolve target-state HR technology solutions.
  • Mentor and guide internal teams and stakeholders on Workday capabilities and enhancements.
  • Stay current with Workday updates, releases, and emerging best practices, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Develop technical documentation, solution designs, and architecture diagrams.
  • Manage relationships with Workday, external vendors, and implementation partners as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Workday certifications are a strong plus.
  • 6-8 years of experience in HR technology, with a strong focus on Workday HCM as a solution architect, lead consultant, or similar role.
  • Proven hands-on expertise in multiple Workday modules, such as Core HCM, Compensation, Performance, Talent, and integration tools (e.g. EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Studio).
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing system enhancements, process optimizations, and cross-system integrations within Workday and across broader HR technology landscapes.
  • Excellent understanding of Workday security frameworks, data privacy, and compliance requirements.
  • Consulting background (internal or external), with a track record of advising stakeholders, translating business needs into system solutions, and managing complex implementations.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes and data, with the ability to assess and improve end-to-end workflows using technology.
  • Experience with complementary HR systems such as payroll, document management, case management, or time tracking platforms.
