WHAT DOES THIS ROLE LOOK LIKE?

Purpose

  • The purpose of this position is to provide PeopleSoft technical support for the Human Resource Management System (HRMS). Technical support is defined as technical assistance in identifying, evaluating, configuration management and developing systems and procedures that are cost-effective and that meet business requirements supported through the HRMS service delivery for CBE clients.

Accountability

This position is accountable to:

  • Coordinate and implement solutions in PeopleSoft 9.2 (analyze, design, code, test and support).
  • Analyze requirements, perform configurations, test changes, and implement custom code in the PeopleSoft 9.2, and update documentation.
  • Develop custom SQR programs and modifications according to specific business requirements using Application Designer, PeopleCode, SQL and SQR.
  • Support the functional Business Analyst with analyzing, interpreting and translating client’s business requirements into system viable solutions or alternatives.
  • Align the scope of solutions in collaboration with business users and functional Business Analysts.
  • Document system/application architecture appropriately.
  • Create technical test scenarios to ensure changes to HRMS maintain the integrity of the system.
  • Provide full life-cycle technical support during requirements gathering, system analysis, design and configuration, development, quality assurance, testing, training and production stabilization support phases.
  • Proactively research Application Development for future upgrades, patches/fixes to HRMS.
  • Develop test plan/strategy documents for system enhancements, implementations and upgrades.
  • Assist with batch scheduling and operations support.
  • Work with PeopleSoft Fluid UI pages and PeopleSoft Security Administration.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate PeopleSoft security with other enterprise systems.
  • Provide expertise on latest PeopleSoft releases (PUM) and its new features.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Work jointly with the HRMS Business Analyst to identify system efficiency improvements, document technical specifications, and assist developers with technical design.
  • Keep current regarding industry trends in order to recommend the best technologies for CBE client strategic accountabilities.
  • Translate functional requirements into technical specifications.
  • Manage and create test plans, test scripts, and technical specifications that support business requirements.
  • Work with clients on system changes required to support business processes, Collective Agreements and Legislative changes.
  • Apply configuration changes to PeopleSoft for earning codes, tax codes, action reasons, combo codes, department & location codes, job codes, salary grades, benefits, position data and any other table changes within PeopleSoft.
  • Perform PeopleSoft walkthroughs with Developers to determine solutions and estimates and provide updates to client.
  • Create and document technical specifications and unit test plans for technical completeness and accuracy.
  • Create system testing scenarios and execute test cases to validate results against the requirements, including regression testing.
  • Work with clients and functional business analysts on acceptance testing.
  • Analyze current HRMS and identify if system requires technical updates and recommend changes to established methods, tools, and techniques where appropriate.
  • Prepare work plans and coordinate with multiple departments for design testing and deployment.
  • Develop new PeopleSoft interfaces and maintain existing integrations.
  • Update change advisory board on status of change requests and identify timelines, implementation dates and priority.
  • Provide regular up to date feedback to clients on change request.
  • Perform investigations on break/fix and provide resolution
  • Provide estimates on all work efforts.
  • Work with the functional Business Analyst on requests for additional functionality within the system. Understand requirements and identify if system delivered functionality could be leveraged or if a customization is necessary.
  • Help design solutions for PeopleSoft enhancements.
  • Work on multiple PeopleSoft modules and exercise a thorough knowledge of institutional business processes.
  • Develop core competency with multiple PeopleSoft technologies (SQR, PeopleTools, PeopleCode and SQL).
  • Use multiple PeopleSoft technologies (SQR, PeopleTools, PeopleCode, SQL and Application Designer) to troubleshoot and design new solutions.
  • Create queries and SQL tools to gather and extract data for reporting, investigation, design, and testing.
  • Manage adhoc PeopleSoft batch jobs.
  • Administer and troubleshoot security access for users.
  • Work with a project team to implement new PeopleSoft modules.
  • Schedule & implement HRMS year-end activities.
  • Support and assist with the analysis, reporting, timelines and delivery of code changes for the system teams.
  • Requirements gathering, fit/gap analysis, documenting design, test planning and execution, training strategy, and overall implementation planning.
  • Perform analysis of the business requirements, and construct application flows for core Business processes, and create technical design for specific application customizations / enhancements including interfaces and reports.
  • Tier 2 end-user system support.
  • Participate in a 24 x 7 on-call system support rotation.
  • Ensure effective communication, procedures and processes are maintained between CBE and the Outsourced Service Provider to ensure seamless provision of HR information and services.
  • Maintain expertise in the core functionality of the HRMS technology, and the HR Technology Architecture in total.
  • Monitor batch process runs, analyze and re-schedule to reduce contention and maximize available server resources.
  • Support single sign on and Two Factor authentication security products.
  • Support real time indexing.
  • Support PeopleSoft (PUM) upgrades with impact analysis, retrofit, testing and implementation for all objects including security objects retrofit.
  • Support implementation on CPU security patches in Linux and windows servers.
  • Performs other related responsibilities as assigned to meet the purpose and accountabilities of the role.
