JOB SUMMARY:

To provide education services in English Language Development (ELD) to a variety of students in a classroom setting. The teacher is responsible for student academic achievement, including instruction and maintaining student discipline. Full job description available upon request.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
• Hold or be eligible for Oregon Teaching Certification with secondary authorization and an English for Speakers of Other Languages endorsement.
• Ability to establish positive working relationships with students, staff, and parents through an equitable and trauma-informed lens.
• Willingness to develop and work with 6th-12th grade students in a newcomer program.
• Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in Spanish and English.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree.
• Willingness to work with extra-curricular activities.

• Designs and implements appropriate instruction of ELD in accordance with students’ needs, District curriculum and state standards.
• Conducts English Language Proficiency testing and progress monitoring.
• Utilizes a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student group involved.
• Uses data to inform instruction, evaluate academic growth, and monitor student progress on grade level standards. Maintain appropriate records.
• Provides language interpretation at meetings involving parents and school officials.
• Actively engage in curriculum and/or faculty committees as interested or required.
• Work collaboratively with other staff members to support student learning.
• Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning academic and behavioral progress of student.
  TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190-Day Contract at 1.0 FTE. Based on current SEA salary schedule and negotiated agreement, ($50,073-$101,649 annually) with excellent benefits including Medical, Dental and Vision insurance and Oregon state retirement.
