OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate HSC Academic Coordinator/Mentor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the academic success of our students by coordinating various educational programmes and initiatives. This position requires a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and the ability to educate both students and staff on academic policies and procedures.

EXPERIENCE

  • A degree in Health and Social Care or a related field is required.
  • Previous experience in an educational setting or academic coordination is required.
  • Proficiency Expert level in Microsoft excel is required.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and software for programme management is preferred.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development in the field of education is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor the attendance of students in line with CECOS targets, setting improvement targets for students where necessary. Conduct daily outreach to applicable students and ensure accurate updates on Academia platform.
  • Working with tutors and programme leads, proactively support student attendance and take agreed intervention actions when a student’s attendance drops below thresholds or involves an extended length of time.
  • Monitor and support the progress of individual students based on performance monitoring data providing risk based, supportive and focused 1:1 tutorials that challenge students on their progress, attendance and work rate balanced with providing clear advice and support.
  • Agree and monitor the action plans drawn up with students during the 1:1 tutorial session ensuring students are always challenged with their progress across all aspects of their programme.
  • Manage and priorities 1:1 interviews as required ensuring that regular monitoring meetings take place with students who are at risk either through poor attendance, poor attitude to learning (these may be on a weekly basis with a view to tapering as appropriate) whilst ensuring that those students that are making good progress are continuously stretched and challenged to achieve the highest grades.
  • Deal promptly and appropriately with curriculum concerns and Tutor referrals in relation to individual student progress.
  • Address and manage extenuating circumstances cases and providing guidance and provide support to assist them to complete their assignments within the agreed timeframe.
  • Deliver study skills sessions according to the timetable assigned for your designated student groups.
  • Document meetings on the CECOS ILP system.
  • Refer students to Student Services or external agencies where appropriate in consultation with the Faculty team.
  • Support and guide students with future progression plans.
  • Liaise regularly with all relevant Tutors and report any emerging issues.
  • Support student recruitment, student voice or wider student wellbeing and mental health activities as needed.
