HSE Lead – Ampol T&I Lead HSE excellence across a major refinery turnaround Drive safety culture & support a high performing team Contribute to one of Australia’s most significant industrial events Why this role Play a key leadership role in the safe execution of the AMPOL Refinery Turnaround, required start end of March with execution period Mid-May – August 2026. Work within one of Australia’s most complex refinery shutdown environments, developing strong technical and leadership capability. Influence safety outcomes across a high risk, fast paced industrial setting while collaborating with key Ampol and UGL stakeholders. UGL UGL provides engineering, construction and maintenance services across Australia’s critical industries, including oil & gas, power, renewables, resources, water, defence and telecommunications. 1 About the role As the HSE Lead – Ampol Turnaround, you will lead UGL’s HSE support function for the Ampol Refinery Turnaround. You’ll coordinate HSE resources, provide infield safety leadership, and partner with Ampol and UGL teams to ensure a safe and effective shutdown. This turnaround runs Mid-May – August 2026, initially working 5 days (Mon-Fri) leading to 6 days on / 1 day off roster, for the duration of the shutdown Mid-May – August 2026 and the role will operate initially Mon-Fri and on a 6/1 roster during execution phase, with FIFO provided from capital cities. Develop and manage SWMS Provide proactive infield HSE support including inspections, toolbox talks, critical risk conversations, and incident investigations. Oversee HSE reporting, incident management and regulatory communication. Manage induction, training and verification of competency requirements for all turnaround personnel. Build strong working relationships with Ampol, contractors, and internal stakeholders. About You Considerable experience in HSE within high risk environments such as oil & gas, construction or shutdowns. Strong capability in investigations, safety communications, and HSE improvement programs. Excellent communication, consultation and influencing skills. Ability to work effectively within high pressure, fast paced operational environments. Passionate about safety leadership and protecting people and the environment.
