The Health & Safety Officer will monitor compliance with applicable legal requirements and as necessary, develop and implement suitable control measures, processes or systems that lead to the continual development of a safe working environment and compliance with legal requirements.

  • Investigation and reporting of H&S accidents, incidents and near misses, determine root cause and implement preventative corrective action alongside site teams.
  • Development and review of Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments and Safe Working Procedures for work activities across all sites and continually monitor changes in working procedures and update accordingly.
  • Conduct regular audits, inspections, and site visits to monitor compliance and best industry practice.
  • Travel between sites regularly and as and when necessary.
  • Build strong working relationships at all levels to advise on and promote a culture of engagement and continuous improvement in regard to health and safety.
  • Development and delivery of internal training including toolbox talks, safety alerts etc. and deliver scheduled in-house training on health, safety and environmental topics to ensure employees are provided with sufficient information, instruction and training to carry out their activities safely.Assisting with HS&E audits, inspections and visits from HSENI, Public Authority Bodies, external auditors, customers etc.
  • Health & Safety induction training for new employees.
  • Assist with the delivery and compliance of all Health & Safety in relation to future projects.
  • Researching health and safety best practice and new legislation and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of health, safety and environmental approved codes of practice
Responsibilities

Reporting to the H&S Manager, the Health & Safety Officer is a hands-on role, visible role with the person providing support, advice and guidance to the site management and operatives to ensure that health, safety and welfare arrangements are adhered to at all times.
