Description
The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist, under general direction, develops, implements, and monitors programs that drive year-over-year improvements in environmental and safety performance.  The Environmental/Safety Specialist will execute key elements of the Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) environmental, health, and safety (EHS) program in a manner that ensures compliance with external regulations as well as internal directives while enhancing the professional relationships between HSE and key internal client groups.   The position is also responsible for: * Reducing environmental or safety risks within the manufacturing environment; * Monitoring satellite accumulation and hazardous waste storage areas; and * Overseeing the inspection and testing of EHS protective systems. Supervisory responsibility: No   Working Conditions:  * Office environment, moderate to quiet noise and not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. * Ability to work 24/7 schedule as business situations require. * Some remote work possible. Physical requirements: * Occasionally positions self to move an office item >10 lbs. * Frequently move about the production floor and office area to attend meetings or trainings * Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 75% of the time  * Frequently operates a computer, enters data into systems, verifies information, etc. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related field * Two (2) years industrial manufacturing experience, including but not limited to: * Program development and management, e.g. ISO 14001, SPCC, VPP, IH sampling * Permitting, e.g. air emissions, waste water, storm water * Reporting, e.g. SQG hazardous waste, SARA reporting * EHS Training, e.g. Coordination, development, and training * Investigation, e.g. employee, property, and equipment incidents * Inspection, e.g. Safety and environmental compliance (Gemba) * Regulatory and EHS Management System proficiency * OSHA, EPA, and DOT; and * ISO 14001, ISO 45001, VPP or similar. * Lean and Six Sigma continuous improvement methodologies. * Candidates with current OSHA training preferred: * Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response standard (HAZWOPER); and * Occupational Health and Safety Standards for General Industry * Willingness to travel * As a Department of Defense Contractor we are required to hire US Persons, Visa sponsorship is not being offered
