Your Mission as an HSE Specialist As an HSE Specialist, your mission is to ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental protection across our operations. You will play a crucial role in implementing our HSE plan, conducting field visits and inspections, and driving a culture of safety awareness. Your expertise will guide our operations team, ensuring that every aspect of our work complies with industry regulations and our QHSE policies. You will be handling these duties and responsibilities as an HSE Specialist Allocate at least 50% of your work time to field activities, including bases, yards, and other locations, conducting visits and inspections. Recommend and follow up on corrective action plans to address any identified HSE issues. Ensure proper implementation of the HSE plan and strict adherence to QHSE policies and procedures. Promote safety and environmental awareness through daily safety meetings, HSE training sessions, inductions, and orientations for employees, contractors, and visitors. Provide guidance, support, and advice on HSE matters to the operations team. Oversee the Permit to Work (PTW) process, ensuring consistency and compliance from initiation to suspension/closing of permits. Prepare and review HSE documentation, including certificates, checklists, MSDS, and road assessments, to identify hazards and implement controls. Ensure the effective implementation of emergency response plans, including equipment availability, maintenance, and execution of drills. Conduct and participate in regular HSE meetings with the operations team and client representatives; document and submit meeting minutes. Follow up on and close out HSE issues and actions from company and client meetings, inspections, and audits. Develop and monitor HSE improvement plans, ensuring they are effectively implemented. Monitor and report incidents and near-misses as per company procedures. Support accident investigation teams in identifying root causes and implementing action plans to prevent recurrence. Lead and conduct technical and general HSE audits and inspections. Monitor safety equipment orders, storage, and distribution to ensure proper handling by supply chain and warehouse personnel. Assist the operations team during site inspections, providing feedback and support in addressing identified actions. Champion the company’s commitment to HSE, encouraging all personnel to prioritize safety and stop work if safety is compromised. Qualifications and Skills that will allow you to thrive as an HSE Specialist 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar HSE role, ideally within the oil and gas industry. A Master’s or Engineering degree, with a preference for candidates holding a NEBOSH Certificate. Strong knowledge of HSE principles, regulations, and best practices. Demonstrated ability to lead HSE initiatives and influence a safety-first culture. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear guidance and support. Experience in conducting HSE audits, inspections, and accident investigations. Proficiency in preparing and reviewing HSE documentation. Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments, spending at least 50% of your time in the field. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop and implement effective corrective action plans.
