Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The HSE Specialist I supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety programs that align with Worley’s purpose of delivering a more sustainable world. This role contributes to ensuring compliance with applicable regulations while fostering a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. Working under general supervision, the HSE Specialist I helps drive operational excellence and sustainable practices across projects and facilities, bridging current industry demands with the transition to more sustainable solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the administration and enforcement of company health, safety, and environmental policies, ensuring alignment with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Assist in developing safe work procedures, facility designs, and operational processes that promote sustainability and hazard prevention.
  • Contribute to the preparation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety manuals, programs, and related documentation.
  • Monitor regulatory updates and industry best practices, advising on changes required to maintain compliance and enhance performance.
  • Participate in hazard identification, incident investigations, and risk assessments, supporting root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate safety and environmental considerations into project planning, execution, and decommissioning activities.
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility by supporting awareness campaigns, training initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provide guidance to junior staff or team members when required, fostering knowledge-sharing and skill development.

LI-JS4

  • University degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Foundational to intermediate-level experience in environmental, health, and safety management, ideally within the energy, chemicals, or resources industries.
  • Strong working knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and industry standards related to occupational health, environmental protection, and workplace safety.
  • Ability to apply structured processes, tools, and methodologies to analyze issues, recommend solutions, and support decision-making.
  • Skilled in clear and professional communication, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and influence safe work practices.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous learning and development in HSE principles and sustainability practices.
  • Demonstrated alignment with Worley’s values, including safety, integrity, collaboration, and the pursuit of sustainable change.
