ABOUT YOU:

The ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about safety, driving standards and identifying improvements. We are seeking a collaborative HSEQ Advisor who has great communication and organisation skills and can build solid internal and external relationships. The successful candidate will ideally have relevant experience in the construction or manufacturing sectors.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Reporting to the General Manager HSEQ, the HSEQ Advisor’s primary function will be to advise, guide, support and drive the safety culture of Fleetwood’s Building and RV Solutions. You will be responsible for two manufacturing facilities, our modular production facility and site-based projects. This position plays an integral role in continuing to maintain and improve our safety culture within the organisation. The position is full time and will be based out of our Derrimut facility.

THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE ARE TO:

  • Provide guidance and support to operational teams to promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Establish clear standards that are consistent with Fleetwood’s environmental, health & safety vision, policies and values that assure the verification activities are completed.
  • Conduct risk assessments for all relevant Fleetwood operations.
  • Conduct worksite inspection and audits on Fleetwood workplaces and construction sites.
  • Develop SWMS, SOP compliance and review chemical risk assessments.
  • Interpret, advise, and apply OHS legislation, Code of Practices and relevant Australian Standards to all Fleetwood activities.
  • Investigate incidents (ICAM), and near misses, identifying the root cause and recommending corrective actions.
  • Develop and format high quality documents, presentation material, training material, and internal and external reports for stakeholders.
  • Participate in the development and review of OHS strategies, policies and procedures that support Fleetwood’s OHSEQ objectives.
  • Assist the General Manager HSEQ and Compliance Manager to implement and maintain the WHSE System Audit Program.
  • Assess Contractor Safety Plans and actively monitor contractor safety performance.
  • Develop, maintain and review the actions raised from Inspections, Risk Assessments, Incident investigations and Audits in MyOSH.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL DEMONSTRATE:

  • A Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety (WHS).
  • Certification as an ICAM Lead Investigator.
  • Experience working with safety management software, such as MYOSH.
  • Strong generalist HSEQ experience and the ability to and provide advice to Fleetwood Managers and employees.
  • A thorough working knowledge of OHS and industry best practice, and Work Health & Safety Management Systems ISO 45001, Quality Management Systems ISO 9001, Environmental Management Systems ISO 14001.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in commercial building/construction or manufacturing industry.
  • Working knowledge of Heavy Vehicle National Law and Regulations (desirable).
  • Experience in the writing/development of risk assessments (including chemical risk assessments), SWMS and SOPs.
  • Ability to draft and review health & safety documentation, and to monitor/review Fleetwood practices for compliance with both policies/procedures/guidelines and statutory requirements.
  • Strong decision-making skills and an ability to make formal recommendations.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively, positively influence and implement change.
  • Skill to investigate, research and analyse information to create policy and/or procedures.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision to manage and coordinate own timetable, set priorities, and achieve objectives whilst willing to work in a team environment.
  • Sound statistical, analytical, and administrative skills.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
